Please find below a list of questions and answers about DQRI. If you would like to submit a question, please email us at info@dqri.org.
Q: Why was DQRI established?
A: DQRI was formed to advance the science of quality clinical research data. Its Board of Directors and committee members are experienced in the industry and share an interest in understanding and improving techniques used by industry to achieve, measure and enhance data quality.
Q: Is DQRI planning new committees or working groups?
A: Yes. Several new groups are being formed now and are planning for launch by end of 2004. Watch this site for information.
Q: What is the difference between CDISC and DQRI?
A: CDISC defines how to structure and describe submission datasets (in their SDS model) and data transmissions (in their ODM model). Their scope is the metadata structure of datasets, i.e,, the information on how to design datasets. DQRI focuses on the quality of the data that go into the datasets and transmissions. CDISC standards support electronic acquisition, exchange, submission, and archiving of clinical trials data and metadata; while DQRI standards will support measuring, monitoring, and reporting on the quality of all clinical data.
Q: DQRI has a liason from the FDA on the board. Does this mean that recommendations from DQRI will result in more work for industry?
A: The expectation is 'no'. The agency is under as much pressure as industry to speed quality drugs to market. For a more complete examination of this question, please see the article entitled 'Reducing the Burden of Quality' in the 4Q2004 issue of 'Quality Matters'
