In today’s demanding environment, there is constant pressure to improve the quality and efficiency of clinical research. While in some cases quality can be defined and improved by individual organizations, others require collaboration between industry, regulators, hospitals, academia and the many other players in clinical research. The Data Quality Research Institute will be the catalyst promoting the collaboration to advance the quality of clinical data.
Mission
To advance the quality of clinical data and scientific decisions affecting healthcare and biopharmaceutical R&D through research and development of best practices, leading to improved outcomes and greater efficiency for clinical practice, registries, device and pharmaceutical development, proteomics and genomics research, and biotechnology.
Purpose
To provide an international scientific forum for academia, healthcare providers, industry, government, and other stakeholders to:
- Research methods of creating higher quality clinical data through understanding and affecting the processes involved
- Apply principles of risk assessment and risk management to clinical data
- Develop methodologies to evaluate and ensure clinical data quality
- Develop new standards and metrics for clinical data quality
- Develop educational materials and programs related to clinical data quality
Institute Structure and Funding
The DQRI is a 501(c)3 organization consisting of an Operating Board with members from industry, academia, regulatory agencies and support services, an Advisory Board, Sponsor Panel, partner organizations and sponsors. General funding is provided through corporate sponsorship, grants, and in-kind donations. Project funding can come from the Institute’s general funds, or from project-specific donations supplied by project proposers or other interested parties.
